Disappearing posts

I have just spent half an hour writing what I thought was a reasonably good post only for it to vanish as i pressed the publish button.
This has happened previously to comments I've tried to make on other people's blogs but I have never lost a whole post before.
Has anyone else experience of the blog thief?  and if so, how do I prevent more of my magnum opus from becoming a magnum 'opeless'?

  1. This happens quite often. I try to remember to copy the html of the whole post before posting.

  3. On your new post page you can choose between edit html and compose. If you only use the compose option, when you have completed a long post, before you publish it, click on the edit html button and then copy everything on the page that comes up. Then press publish. If you lose your post in the publishing process (which is when this problem happens) then open a new new post page, click on the edit html button and on the empty page that comes up paste the text you copied. Then press publish again and continue doing that until Blogger actually publishes it.

The usual reason for this happening is when you press publish at the same time as Blogger does something technical their end or if your server doesn't find blogger's address or if your server goes down (the server is the internet company who sends your emails and stuff all over the place for you).

  4. Bless you Jonathan. Many thanks. I will make a blogger yet. (even if it takes me 10 times longer than most)!

  5. I started blogging just 4 weeks after I first went on the Internet and knew nothing. I just picked it all up by trial and error. If you ever want to know how to do anything just drop me a line.

  6. Snap! Only in my case it was the second thing I did. Learning to send an email being the first.
If I get stuck again - no, when I get stuck again I will call on your help. Thanks again.

  7. I get round this by always writing my post in Word first and saving that, then copying it into the post box in Blogger. It works for me, but I've still made a note of Jonathan's excellent advice. :-)
