Careful Dining

I really don't know whether to applaud Theresa May for her courage as she prepares to meet Donald Trump, or to deplore her seeming readiness to sup with Beelzebub.

So much is at stake both politically, financially and morally that only  the most considered and careful debate should be contemplated.

Every time this man opens his mouth he alienates yet another huge swathe of the population, both at home and abroad.

Each comment appears to confirm our worst fears as to his style of leadership,  His is not the language of diplomacy.  It shows no evidence of judicious and measured examination of the problems America is facing on the home front.

His manner is that of the school bully with the added incentive of seemingly limitless power.

Whatever the outcome of this first meeting of the new president with a foreign head of state I fear the lady will require a very long spoon.

  2. It is very worrying. I don't like to see her embracing and endorsing Trump either but lets give it a while and see how things go.
Hope you are all recovered now?

  3. I'm sad to hear that, Ray! It seems to me that singing would really work rather nicely right now, kind of Mary Poppins spirit...
This mayhem we,ve gotten in to is getting worse by the minute, but we shouldn't loose hope. The schools bully was never the winner in the end, as I recall it. And the Lord himself got to the table with sinners, sharing a meal seemed important to him, let's see what will happend. I do wonder, though.....if it works with prime ministers and presidents....we can but wait and see.

  4. I know what you mean about Mary Poppins Solveig but it is probably better to wait until there is at least a trace of a voice. At present I sound like a crow.
As for the other matter, well no doubt we will have plenty to say about it (i certainly will anyway) as words turn into deeds.

  5. Unfortunately Prime Ministers and the Queen don't have much choice who they meet, what we see is carefully stage managed public relations and diplomacy, it is the behind the scenes work by the diplomats and civil servants that is important.

    1. All the more reason then for a careful choice of words on our side at least, since we do not want to be the first country to attach ourselves to the coat-tails of this dangerous man.

  6. To be honest, the state of the world and politics in the west are a bit much for me right now. I have come across someone in the guise of "school bully" in connection with a social care matter, and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. Glad to hear you are getting better now. Blessings from Dalamory
