Well obviously it must be night time because I have to put the lights on to type this.
No, that's not right, it has b een so dark most of the day that I had the lights on most of the time.
Maybe it can only be night because the television is silent (for once)
No, sometimes I have to sit and watch whatever is onbecause I can't sleep.
Why is there no distant sound of traffic.
Why is there no bird song
Oh a clue, I am wearing my nightdress.
But I'm not in bed.
Now I know it is night because in the corner of my computer it says 1.43 am.
I know I am old (87 last week) but I can still tell the time.
When I was young I used to like waking up and finding I could go back to sleep as it was not time to get up. These days returning to slumber is not a given.
ReplyDeleteOh how right you are. Sleep has evaded me for most of my life (bags under my eyes since my twenties), and now when it is not essential to get up at the same time every day I can only sleep on after dawn if I am ill. Not fair is it?
ReplyDeleteThe odd nap in the afternoon is however, all too easy.
Dear Ray! I just happened to slip in here and saw that you are still here, with your quiet reflections on everyday life. I dont know if you remember me, it has been a few years since I last wrote on my account Bad hip perspective . I loved your post here, the passing of time, the night and day that seem to blend and become a haze, the trouble sleeping is. I hope you are doing well. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteHello Solveig; of course I remember you and have missed your blogs.
DeleteThese days i hardly ever blog since life has slowed to such an extent it seems ther is nothing worth communicating to the rest of the world.
My health has deteriorated quite a bit and with it my flow of energy. I am currently trying to get well enough to rejoin the choir. Had already done so then experienced a lot of set backs and had to give up again. Once this phase is over I hope to rejoin the human race. I do h ope your life is a bit better than when we were last in touch
God bless you also.
