Makes me wonder what ever happened to the principle of the tithe, when we parishioners stepped up to help (as you've rightly pointed out) with our time, talent and "treasure" (aka money) to ensure the needs of the Body were met. Surely heat falls into that category.

Thank God spring & summer eventually make their way.Kathleen https://www.blogger.com/profile/05245926913888212148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7948117492116997244.post-91581518714780889342012-02-04T21:54:56.464+00:002012-02-04T21:54:56.464+00:00Nice try Theanne, thanks, but I won't hold my ...Nice try Theanne, thanks, but I won't hold my breath.Ray Barneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09209429097744326143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7948117492116997244.post-40717079179070551582012-02-04T21:53:49.461+00:002012-02-04T21:53:49.461+00:00Unfortunately Broad, we have no Parish centre, it&...Unfortunately Broad, we have no Parish centre, it's St. M's or nothing.Ray Barneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09209429097744326143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7948117492116997244.post-41508378837858894732012-02-04T21:51:45.177+00:002012-02-04T21:51:45.177+00:00Hmmm, "We'll have to go back to wearing t...Hmmm, "We'll have to go back to wearing the kind of clothes we wore when our churches were first built"...
Now that would be really interesting.
St. Mary's oldest bit goes back to the 12th century and we believe is on the site of an earlier Saxon church.
I promise not to show photographs on the blog if we decide to act on your suggestion.Ray Barneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09209429097744326143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7948117492116997244.post-61118221293582971382012-02-04T20:17:42.405+00:002012-02-04T20:17:42.405+00:00bravo to those who attend...to endure the cold one...bravo to those who attend...to endure the cold one simply has to want to be there...and a little warmth would be nice too! kidding aside, God please give these folks some heat...so they can sing your word without chattering teeth!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7948117492116997244.post-58670188190211007272012-02-04T18:56:37.338+00:002012-02-04T18:56:37.338+00:00Our church is quite large and last year they decid...Our church is quite large and last year they decided to have the main church service in the Parish Centre for the month of January. Keeping the roof on and paying our way is hard enough these days. :-( We'll have to go back to wearing the kind of clothes people wore when our churches were first built and were never heated - long skirts and lots of layers of wool....Perpetuahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01214396019726161983noreply@blogger.com
